I remember that old phrase 'Find a penny, pick it up. All day long you'll have good luck'. Well my experience was more about finding a pound! Here's what happened... I went to a networking event the other day and as I arrived at the car park, I stood behind a lady waiting to use the car park pay-and-display machine.
She said "You go in front of me, I'm waiting for 20 pence" so I approached the machine, checked my wallet and found a 20 pence piece. I gave it to her so she could pay for her ticket, for which she was very grateful.
I returned to the machine to buy my own ticket, and as I turned around her daughter approached her and gave her 20p. So the lady thanked me for my kindness, and gave me back the coin I had leant to her.
I popped it in my wallet, displayed my ticket and started walking out of the car park, feeling good that I'd offered to help someone, even if it wasn't needed in the end.
As I walked towards the exit, I noticed something on the floor - it was a shiny £1 coin! I picked it up and smiled to myself as I put it in my wallet. I don't usually look at the floor whilst I'm walking but I just happened to look down at the right moment. Coincidence? I don't believe there is such a thing. More like instant karma! Do a good deed, and you will have it returned to you.
It might seem like something fairly small but it made me smile for the rest of the day! 🙏🏼
